Based on more than 50 years of experience in developing and handcrafting ribbon microphones, the RM 510 is an interchangeable ribbon capsule head for beyerdynamic’s Opus 900 and Opus 600 Series wireless systems. The cardioid capsule features an ultralight, 3-micron aluminium ribbon for extended frequency response and excellent transient behavior, while a subtle attenuation in the 6.5kHz range suppresses sibilant sounds for a balanced and unobtrusive sound.

A unique sound-channeling technology provides the capsule with its cardioid polar pattern, making the RM 510 the first ribbon capsule designed for handheld wireless mic systems. The capsule’s newly developed treble resonator delivers the rich high-frequency reproduction typical of beyerdynamic ribbon microphones, but also serves to protect against damage caused by plosive sounds. A stainless-steel mesh basket with multilayer metal gauze offers durability and protection under tough road conditions.

The RM 510 will be available in Q1, 2011. Visit RME at AES booth #1230 in San Francisco from November 5 to 7, 2010.
