Plug-ins are in use almost every day in any music production. What's your go-to plug-in? What's the oddest use you've put a plug-in into effect? E-mail the staff at mixeditorial@mixonline.com.
As the AES convention in San Francisco approaches, we thought we’d give Mix readers a sneak peak of some of the new products debuting at the show.
RME launches its new flagship digital interface: The single-rackspace Fireface UFX features 30 input and 30 output channels of audio, with four digitally controlled, reference-quality mic preamps, 24-bit/192kHz resolution, front panel metering and FireWire or USB operation for Mac or Windows PC. Connectivity includes 12 analog inputs (four mic/line, eight line only), 12 analog line outs, four 8-channel ADAT Lightpipe ports (4 in/4 out), stereo AES/EBU digital I/Os on XLRs, BNC word clock I/Os, two sets of MIDI in/outs and a front panel headphone out.
TotalMix FX DSP mixer and signal router software
Also standard is active jitter suppression, professional reference-level support, advanced stand-alone functionality and RME´s unique DIGICheck metering and analysis toolbox.
The included TotalMix FX DSP mixer and signal router software allows fully independent control of all 30 input and playback channels to all 30 physical outputs. Up to 15 totally independent stereo submixes and a luxury Control Room section offering monitoring capabilities. Available effects on all I/O channels includes 3-band parametric EQ, highpass filter (up to 24 dB/octave), compressor/expander, auto-level and a separate FX send bus feeding two effect engines: Reverb and Echo.
Retail is $2,299. Visit RME at AES booth #931 in San Francisco from November 5 to 7, 2010. Find out more about Fireface UFX.
