With the release of Time for Annihilation…On the Record and On the Road, Papa Roach fans get the best of both worlds: five new studio tracks and nine “best-of” live performances from their December 2009 arena dates. Whereas most artists either put out a full studio album or a full live album, Papa Roach splits it right down the middle. Either way, rockers can sink their teeth into this mighty release—there is plenty of vim and vigor in the new studio tracks to get you salivating for more. (I’m truly hoping that a full-length album is in the works after hearing these “teasers.”) Interestingly, the transition from studio to live is seamless—the band brings that same heavy-hitting style to the stage, as witnessed by the fist-pounding performances of “Last Resort“ and “Scars.” As lead vocalist Jacoby Shaddix says, “This is a look back at our career through the live songs, and it’s also a statement that we’re here to stay.” So if you’re in the mood for some new Papa Roach and can’t swing the ticket price, this is your front seat.

In addition, there’s a special hidden track at the end of the album with a message personally recorded by Shaddix, encouraging fans to help fight hunger and homelessness by texting WhyHunger to donate $5.
