RedNet 5 is the latest addition to Focusrite's RedNet family of networked audio interfaces from Focusrite. Connecting to a Pro Tools HD system via DigiLink, RedNet 5 allows for the use of low-latency performance of Pro Tools HD cards alongside RedNet's audio interfaces to configure a powerful and flexible recording and mixing system, while maintaining a traditional workflow.
RedNet promises excellent sound quality with a dynamic range of 120 dB throughout the system. Coupled with its scalable architecture —which communicates using Gigabit Ethernet technology—it enables studio users to add the full benefits of RedNet to a Pro Tools HD system.
RedNet 5 connects directly to Pro Tools HD cards via conventional DigiLink cables and supports up to 32 channels of simultaneous inputs and outputs. To achieve higher channel counts, multiple RedNet 5 units can be connected to additional Pro Tools HD cards. Users can assign any available audio source or destination on the RedNet network to RedNet 5 with the drag-and-drop RedNet software control panel, and channel assignments appear in Pro Tools exactly as they would with any other HD-compatible audio interface. Users retain access to all TDM plug-ins and saved sessions.
Focusrite states that the RedNet system will be available worldwide from Q4 2011. RedNet 5 is expected to be available in early 2012 (pricing TBA).
