Plug-ins are in use almost every day in any music production. What's your go-to plug-in? What's the oddest use you've put a plug-in into effect? E-mail the staff at mixeditorial@mixonline.com.

Neumann has expanded its Solution-D digital miniature microphone family by introducing the KM 183 D, KM 184 D and KM 185 D models, which offer three different directional characteristics. Due to their modular construction, the passive omnidirectional, cardioid and supercardioid capsules can be combined with the KM D output stage. The mics are available in classic nickel and black Nextel finishes. Sampling frequencies from 44.1 to 192 kHz are supported.

DSP functions can be configured and controlled remotely via Neumann’s DMI-2 digital microphone interface and RCS remote-control software. DSP functions include gain setting, a compressor/limiter with a supplementary de-esser function and a peak limiter.

Neumann is also offering connection kits for widely used S/PDIF and AES/EBU interfaces. A plug-in power supply is included, and an optional battery pack for outdoor operation is also available.
