As part of its continuing expansion, Sound Lounge in New York City has promoted Paul Weiss and Cory Melious (pictured, left to right) to mixer positions. Both Weiss and Melious began their careers at Sound Lounge in 2002 as assistant mixers and have considerable experience in television and radio spots, broadcast promotions and independent films.

The promotions are in keeping with Sound Lounge’s practice of developing mixing talent from within. “Grooming our own talent allows us the opportunity to train new mixers in our approach to the craft of mixing,” says Sound Lounge president Tom Jucarone. “They learn to do quality work from the start. Paul and Cory have done an excellent job as assistants and have been dedicated in developing their skills and in learning from our senior mixers.”

Weiss' advertising projects include work for MasterCard (McCann-Erickson, New York) and a public-service announcement promoting AIDS awareness for Crispin Porter Bogusky that featured rap artist Common. He also mixed a cinema campaign for this year’s TriBeCa Film Festival out of Ogilvy & Mather, New York. His credits also include At the Beach, a short directed by Columbia University student Andrew Lloyd, which won the Kim’s Video Award at the school’s 2005 film festival.

Melious' advertising work includes campaigns for Tylenol (Deutsch), MTV (in-house), Sportsnet (Ogilvy & Mather, New York) and the American Liver Foundation (Filter, New York). He also worked on The Learning Channel’s “Life Lessons” campaign. Additionally, Melious has performed sound editing and mixing for independent films including Stereomonger, an experimental short from directors Luis Gispert and Jeffrey James Reed, and Dealbreaker, directed by Gwyneth Paltrow. He is currently working on the independent feature The Living Wake for director Sol Tryon.
