Plug-ins are in use almost every day in any music production. What's your go-to plug-in? What's the oddest use you've put a plug-in into effect? E-mail the staff at mixeditorial@mixonline.com.
Digigram is collaborating with NSCA to offer valuable insights and concepts about networks in general and about audio networking to attendees of NSCA Expo 2005 (March 10-15, Orlando, Fla.).
Digigram’s James Lamb has agreed to serve as an instructor during the show. He will present two networking seminars. The first explains the OSI (Open Systems Interconnnection) model and how it applies to today’s Internet. The second session builds on the first, explaining how and where digital audio networks fit within the OSI model. The third session will explore the EtherSound technology, which Digigram has developed and patented.
EtherSound is an elegant, simple and open digital audio network standard with extremely low latency that is fully compliant with the IEEE’s 802.3 Ethernet specification. Lamb will explain how EtherSound uses Ethernet, and the difference between Ethernet hardware and the Internet software often associated with it, such as TCP, IP and UDP (or Transmission Control Protocol, Internet Protocol and User Datagram Protocol).
These training sessions will provide NSCA attendees with a valuable overview and understanding of network terms and concepts and how they are being applied today to build the networked audio/visual systems of the future.
