Plug-ins are in use almost every day in any music production. What's your go-to plug-in? What's the oddest use you've put a plug-in into effect? E-mail the staff at mixeditorial@mixonline.com.
EAW recently introduced its NT Series of self-powered loudspeakers. Incorporating EAW’s new proprietary Digital Transduction Correction (DTC) technology, the NT Series is a self-powered speaker that offers studio monitor quality sound at ultrahigh-output levels. DTC technology represents one of the first DSP algorithms specifically created from the ground up for loudspeaker design.
“DTC technology provides the exact complex filter responses necessary to correct for ‘time smear,’ which is an inherent problem in any compression driver,” explains David Gunness, EAW’s director of R&D. “Although DSP-based speaker processing has been in fairly common use in both installation and touring for over 10 years, there’s been surprisingly little in the way of creative application of these technologies. We undertook an ambitious research program to bridge the gap between the requirements of loudspeakers and the promise of digital signal processing. DTC is the result of that program, and the NT Series is the first of many products to employ this new technology.”
Available in 12-inch and 15-inch two-way full-range models with a choice of 60-degree or 90-degree HF beam widths, NT Series loudspeakers offer a 1,000W LF amplifier and 500W HF amplifier, and incorporate numerous weight-saving design elements.
