Plug-ins are in use almost every day in any music production. What's your go-to plug-in? What's the oddest use you've put a plug-in into effect? E-mail the staff at mixeditorial@mixonline.com.

Peavey recently introduced the VSX 26 and VSX 48 loudspeaker-management systems. In addition to being crossovers, these new VSX models feature Peavey processing technology and Web-based internal software for use in single or multi-zone applications.

With their multiple I/O schemes, these new VSX units enable versatile sound system configuration options. The VSX 26, which has two inputs and six outputs, can receive a stereo signal and crossover at three points in stereo. Each of these stereo signals can also be processed individually. With its four inputs and eight outputs, the VSX 48 model is designed for multi-zone use or for setting delayed fill speakers.

The VSX 26 and VSX 48 have complete front panel controls with lockout and can be configured via internal software, which is pre-loaded into the unit. (No additional software is needed.) The software provides a higher-resolution GUI for easier system control and will launch by plugging a computer into the VSX's front panel USB port. Once connected, the computer can run the software or load software updates when they become available on Peavey’s Website.

These single-rackspace units also feature built-in Feedback Ferret® digital feedback elimination, parametric EQ, graphic EQ, fully configurable crossover, compressor, limiter, delay and RTA.

The VSX 26 and VSX 48 will be available during Q1 2005.

Units sell for a suggested retail price of $559.99 (VSX 26) and $759.99 (VSX 48).
