Thunder Audio (Taylor, Mich.) is putting its recently purchased MILO high-power curvilinear array system to work on Robert Plant’s 22-date summer U.S. tour. According to Thunder VP Paul Owen, 34 MILO cabinets will be employed to fill the houses on the tour, which kicks off on June 15 in Providence, R.I.
Says Owen, “I got to use the MILO system with Metallica when we were in Iceland. We were coming off of two years of touring with them where we saw just about every kind of system available on the European festival circuit. Now, I take (Metallica front-of-house engineer) Big Mick’s opinion on a system more than anyone else’s, having known him for 25 years. After using MILO in Iceland, Mick said, ’This just beats all of them hands-down.’”
Owen, recipient of a 2005 Parnelli Award for Monitor Mixer of the Year, thinks the MILO system will see a lot of use by Thunder because of its versatility. “We feel that MILO is very good for the heavy acts, but has got the fidelity for the other acts we do.”
