Plug-ins are in use almost every day in any music production. What's your go-to plug-in? What's the oddest use you've put a plug-in into effect? E-mail the staff at mixeditorial@mixonline.com.
The SP 5.5P is an updated and powered version of Peavey's SP 5 loudspeaker enclosure, and features a 15-inch Peavey Black Widow loudspeaker with a 4-inch voice coil and field-replaceable basket for quick, easy on-the-gig repair. These enclosures also feature RX™ 22
compression drivers with Ferrofluid cooling and patented Quadratic Throat Waveguide
technology, which yields dramatically reduced horn distortion and clearer sound. In addition, the horn’s asymmetrical design aims the sound down to the audience, not over their heads.
The power section features a bi-amplified, 1,000-watt power amplifier with exclusive DDT™
speaker protection, full-range 1/4-inch and Neutrik Speakon I/O and a loop I/O jack for daisy-chaining multiple units. Nine-ply Baltic birch construction using extensive internal bracing produces tighter bass response than plastic speaker boxes, especially below 200 Hz. The SP 5.5P also includes built-in stand-mount adapters and black carpet covering.
The Peavey SP5.5P enclosure will be available in Q3, 2006. For more information, click here. For more new sound reinforcement products, visit mixonline.com/livesound/products/.
