Corporate Image Audio of Coto de Caza, Calif., has received the first Soundcraft Vi6 digital live sound console available for sale in the United States.

According to CIA President Scott Mintz, “The first thing you notice when you see the Vi6 is how sleek and elegant its design is, but once you get it powered up, you also quickly find how simple it is to use. The ability to access any function from within the selected channel via the touchscreen reduces the learning curve to almost zero. In fact, when our Vi6 first arrived, we were literally able to pull the desk out of the box and get right to work without even looking at the manual. For a mixing console this sophisticated, that says a lot.”

Mintz and his team further appreciated the Vi6’s default preset programs, which allow them to configure the desk for a variety of front-of-house and monitor board applications, as well as the color-coded bus groupings. Mintz also cited the console’s portability, flexibility, processing and rugged roadworthy build as other key reasons for the purchase.

Since acquiring the desk, the regional sound-reinforcement company has kept its Vi6 busy on a steady stream of events as diverse as big-band performances by Les Brown and his Band of Renown to a television production for CBS 2 (KCBS-TV) in Palm Desert. Mintz is looking forward to using the digital Soundcraft desk for the upcoming Rotary International 2007 Assembly in San Diego, which will require 30 different scenes to be programmed into the console to accommodate the event. CIA additionally plans to use the desk on the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, Calif., in March.
