In June 2006, Version 7 of the SymNet Designer application for Windows will be available for public download from www.symnetaudio.com. The primary focus of the new release is the addition of Loudspeaker Management Modules.

These modules provide many of the common features required for loudspeaker management and room optimization, including parametric EQ, highpass and lowpass filtering, delay, gain, invert and mute. There are two versions of modules: Smaart-compatible and standard. They are identical except that the Smaart-compatible version can be directly controlled from SIA Software's SmaartLive RTA software. As with previous upgrades and additions to the SymNet toolkit, Loudspeaker Management Modules are offered as a series of software modules that can be added to a SymNet design at any time based on the system application.

SymNet's control capabilities have been further enhanced in this release with the addition of a new subcategory of DTMF generator/auto-dialer modules for teleconferencing. These Dialer modules can be found under Conferencing. They provide a DTMF output that can be used to dial a telephone. The Manual Dialer provides a standard keypad, while the Speed-dial 10 and Speed-dial 20 modules add 10 or 20 named speed-dial numbers, respectively.

Another key feature is third-party Ethernet control. All SymNet units that have Ethernet ports can now be externally controlled via Ethernet. The same RS-232 protocol commands are used and packaged into a UDP packet. This allows external control systems to control a SymNet system via Ethernet.

Other enhancements include the ability to navigate to super-module control screens from other control screens and open DSP modules from within control screens. To simplify screen setups, the cursor now hovers over a Connect button in the button grid while a pop-up displays the current input/output number and name.

Also, all Connect and/or Mute buttons can be assigned to a preset in a single click. For Connect buttons, right-clicking on the Connect Button grid shows menu items for storing and recalling the Connect Matrix. For Mute buttons, right-clicking on the Connect Button grid now shows menu items for storing and recalling the Mute Matrix.
