APHEX EXPANDS ANACONDA: Recent interface/converter peripherals for the Anaconda 64-channel, bi-directional snake system include the Model 141 8-channel ADAT-to-analog converter, the Model 142 8-channel analog-to-ADAT converter and the bi-directional Model 144, an AES-to-ADAT and ADAT-to-AES interface that converts four stereo pairs of AES or S/PDIF to/from eight ADAT-format channels.

AVIOM 6416DIO DIGITAL I/O MODULE: Expanding on the speed and performance of the Pro64 platform, the 6416dio provides 16 digital inputs and outputs to/from a Pro64 A-Net audio network in a single 2U package, using the AES3 format. The 6416dio supports all valid Pro64 sample rates, from 44.1/48 kHz to 192 kHz, and can clock internally or to a distributed network clock, AES digital input or word clock. Audio connections are DB-25 or optional BNCs for broadcast integration. The 6416dio also includes I/O for Aviom Virtual Data Cables, which can simultaneously distribute up to 14 channels of non-audio control data to any device on the Pro64 network.

AVIOM PRO64: The Pro64 version of Aviom's A-Net technology is finally available. Pro64 A-Net expands on Pro16 A-Net while improving the flexibility of the architecture, increasing the channel count to 64×64 (with higher sample rates) and data integration for remote control of mic preamps, network management and distributing user control data.

BELDEN HDMI COPPER CABLES: Demonstrating full-rate performance for HDMI 1.3 at distances up to 100m, Belden's planned HD5000 Series of HDMI all-copper cables. Belden selected Gennum Corp.'s connectivity solution for its HD5000 Series HDMI cables, for connecting and streaming content at the highest specifications. These will deliver the highest performance, longest-reach HDMI/DVI multimedia interface currently available. AES booth #629.

CHORDSAVERS: Hiding and protecting cables is a challenge in any audio environment—studio or live. Available in multiple colors, stainable wood grains, glow-in-the-dark, LED light strip and commercial snake and broadcasting versions, ChordSavers offer an elegant solution. They come in standard 36-inch lengths, feature dual adhesion strips on the base and interlock to any length of run required. Prices start at $14.99 for singles, $59.99 for 5-packs and $99.99 in 10-pack units.

KALTMAN MOTORIZED CABLE WINDER: Part of a new line of cable-management products, the motorized, handheld Kaltman KCC50-5 cable coiler can coil up to 50 feet of mic cable (or Cat-5 cables, fiber-optic lines, speaker cords, co-ax, rope, etc.) in less than five seconds. Once the cable is coiled onto the spool, the cable slides off for storage. In addition to offering a 10:1 speed advantage over hand coiling, the unit creates no stress on the cable's internal conductors and no twisted tangles when uncoiling the cable for the next use.

LIGHTVIPER VIM-MY32 INTERFACE: A pair of VIM-MY32 ($1,550) mini-YDGAI interfaces lets Yamaha console owners connect directly via fiber to the LightViper fiber-optic audio snake system with 32 audio sends and eight returns (24-bit/48kHz). Various combos of MY-32 cards can be used with Yamaha's PM5D, M7CL, DM2000, DM1000 and LS9. Yamaha's control protocol for its AD8HR remote mic preamplifiers is provided through a LightViper “MY card-enabled” fiber connection. AES booth #1124.

OPTOCORE PTP32E: The PTP32E is a point-to-point link with redundant fiber connection carrying 32 AES/EBU digital audio channels and bi-directional composite video. Also new is the DD8RP Repeater Device option, which can expand the system's normal multimode, 700-meter range via four link ports that can operate in standard multimode or be switched to mono mode for runs up to 100 km. AES booth #1054.

VOVOX LINK PROTECT A: High-performance, solid-core copper balanced cable terminated in highest-quality ¼-inch phono. AES booth #1026.

WHIRLWIND E-MOD MODULES: Offering solutions for any install, E-Mod networking and 2-/8-channel I/O module digital interconnects, such as CobraNet-to-Aviom A-Net, EtherSound-to-A-Net, CobraNet-to/from-EtherSound, CobraNet to line-level analog, analog to CobraNet and the Computer Interface Alternative, to control Whirlwind's E-Snake directly from a Yamaha digital console without the need for a computer. AES booth #326.

WIREWORKS DT12 CABLING SYSTEM: Designed for rigorous sports applications, the DT12 Audio Cabling System includes the DT12 sports broadcast breakout box, trunks and tails. Ideal for broadcast trucks, where space is often limited, the DT12's welded steel breakout boxes are a quarter the size of traditional stageboxes. Road-tough DT12 fanouts are available in 4- or 8-foot lengths. AES booth #1200.

XTRAGOOD MIC SPLITTER: The 1-in, 2-out Xtragood Mic Splitter ($199/mono version, $299/stereo) is a simple but often-needed problem-solver from Cable Techniques. The sturdy all-metal box offers a loop-thru with secondary, isolated output and ground lift. The compact 4.5x2.5x1.5-inch box has a shielded transformer and XLR connectors.
