APOGEE X-HD OPTION CARD: The X-HD v.2 option allows for direct connectivity between Pro Tools HD systems and Apogee’s AD-16X, DA-16X, and Rosetta 800 and 200 series converters, providing superior conversion to Pro Tools HD users without an additional interface. The X-HD v.2 release changes Apogee hardware emulation in Pro Tools to better support I/O setup and auto delay compensation without compromising channel counts. AES booth #572.

CENTRANCE MICPORT PRO: MicPort Pro plugs into any XLR microphone and instantly transforms it into a recording device. This portable, low-noise USB mic preamp features 24-bit/96kHz performance, 48V phantom power, zero latency monitoring, loud headphone output, and knobs for input and output level—with driverless, "wizard-free" installation to most Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X audio applications. Retail is $149. AES booth #564.

LYNX LT-FW FIREWIRE CARD: The LT-FW ($595) LSlot FireWire interface lets Lynx Aurora 8 and Aurora 16 AD/DA converters interface with/be controlled by a Mac or PC. The unit enables 32 channels of analog and digital input and output at sample rates up to 96 kHz, or 16 channels of analog and digital I/O at 192 kHz. The LT-FW supports ASIO and WDM for Windows and Core Audio for Mac OS X. Full WDM implementation offers multiple channel support of 5.1/7.1/10.1 surround formats. The included Aurora Remote Control Application allows up to 18 inputs to be monitored for the first four analog output channels. Two FireWire connectors allow daisy-chaining of LT-FW equipped Aurora converters. AES booth #812.

MXL MICMATE: The MicMate universal USB microphone interface enables any dynamic or condenser mic to be connected to a personal computer. As a plug and play device for Windows or Mac, it requires no special drivers: connect the MicMate’s USB cable to a computer’s USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 port. It features a 3-position attenuation pad, 16-bit Delta Sigma A/D converter (44.1/48 kHz) and can supply 48V phantom power. MAP price is $79.95. AES booth #432.

PRESONUS FIRESTUDIO LIGHTPIPE: This 24-bit/96kHz, 32-channel ADAT-to-FireWire recording system for Mac and Windows PCs features JetPLL jitter elimination technology for ultra-tight digital synchronization, a 34x4 zero-latency monitor mixer, balanced TRS stereo analog outputs, word clock input/output, MIDI input/output and headphone output. The FireStudio LightPipe is a perfect recording solution for digital mixers and AD/DA converters including the PreSonus DigiMax FS 8-channel microphone preamplifier. AES booth #910.

PRISM SOUND ORPHEUS: The Orpheus interface has eight analog I/Os and S/PDIF (coax and optical) digital I/O. The optical ports can also be used as 8-channel ADAT I/O, for a maximum capacity of 18 concurrent I/O channels. It includes controller software with a digital mixer and drivers for Windows XP or Vista; Mac OS 10.4 interfacing is via Core Audio. The unit also has four digitally controlled preamps and two instrument inputs. AES booth #712.

RME HDSPE 9632 CARD: This newly engineered PCI-Express card operates at up to 192 kHz and features two channels of balanced analog I/O, a 96kHz-capable ADAT I/O (SMUX), SPDIF I/O, MIDI I/O and a separate headphone output with its own D/A converters and volume control. Optional analog expansion boards offer four balanced ins or outs. The unit ships with unbalanced RCA/phono breakout; optional breakout cables are available for balanced XLR I/Os and AES/EBU. The HDSPe 9632 offers RME's Time Code Option module and features RME's TotalMix, SyncCheck and SteadyClock. The card supports Windows XP, Vista and Vista 64; Apple Power PC; and Mac Universal (Intel). AES booth #743.

ROLAND SYSTEMS GROUP RSS S-OPT: The RSS S-OPT fiber-optic data converter designed for the RSS Digital Snakes and V-Mixing System lets users transmit data up to 2 km (1.2 miles). Two S-OPT units can be connected using the proprietary Power Link cable (ARC-15, sold separately) so redundant power can be supplied from one unit to the other. If power to a single unit is interrupted or is damaged, both units will still continue to operate. AES booth #755.

SONIFEX RB-SC2 CONVERTER: This 1U sample rate converter supports rates up to 192 kHz and offers two optional video synchronizing boards that can be synched to an analog video signal or SDI digital video signal (HD or SD). Output formats include AES/EBU, S/PDIF and Toslink optical. An X-Lock mode lets the unit function as a full bi-directional sample rate converter to be inserted between two digital devices running at different rates, ensuring that the two units remain locked. The box can also be controlled remotely via the RS-232 port. AES booth #447.

TC ELECTRONIC DIGITAL KONNEKT X32: This digital patchbay, format converter and FireWire audio interface offers integration possibilities with external TC effects. The $1,745 unit features eight AES/EBU channels, eight channels of S/PDIF and Toslink, eight channels of ADAT (up to 96kHz SMUX) and word clock I/O. In addition, the included Integrator plug-in makes other TC hardware effects units act like standard VST/Audio Units plug-ins from within a DAW, with control of routing, levels and latency compensation.
