Juno Award–winning composer and producer Ian Nieman recently brought in an API 1608 console for his Canadian studio, Nieman Music, where he can be found creating hits and remixes for the likes of Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado, Jason Derulo and many others.
“I have always been a fan of API products and of their punchy sound,” says Nieman, “which lends itself well to the electronic-based music that I do. I have owned 550As, 560s, 525s, 205Ls, 225Ls and, of course, my 7800/8200 summing mixer. When I was in the market for a new console, I naturally had to see what was available at API. After doing a lot of research online and consulting with Mike Nehra at Vintage King, I found the 1608 to be the obvious winner.”
