At the recent AES Convention, Felix Bautista, a student at The Institute of Audio Research (IAR), was awarded the highest honor for his recording of “Country Music,” a smooth jazz instrumental piece, by Gary Fisher Group. The song was selected from more than 40 student and school submissions worldwide by a panel of judges, including recording engineer/producers Ed Cherney and Jim Anderson.

Bautista recorded and mixed the winning entry in his Recording Studio Workshop class using IAR’s digital 24-track Studio B. It was mixed to analog tape at 30 ips with Dolby SR noise reduction, and then burned to CD for presentation.
