Miami’s Drummer Boy Sound (DBS) deployed its Dynacord Cobra-2 line array system for a special kids' holiday event on December 22, 2006 that was hosted by NBA star Udonis Haslem of the Miami Heat. Every year, Udonis Haslem’s Children’s Foundation distributes thousands of toys to inner city children from South Florida. This year’s event was held at Sherbondy Park in Opa-Locka, Fla., where toys were delivered to the park for distribution, all donated by Haslem. Haslem’s Heat teammate, James Posey, assisted in the toy giveaway.

“DBS was called in by the City of Opa-Locka to handle production services,” explained Harold Cummings of DBS. “We supplied the stage, sound system and DJ for the event, and the Dynacord Cobra was the system of choice because of its extraordinary capabilities. The organizers from the city explained there would be a few thousand people in the park, so the sound system needed to cover the entire three-acre area.

“From prior experience, we knew that would be no problem for our Cobra rig," Cummings continues. "Though it’s a highly portable system that sets up quickly, the wide coverage, long throw and all-around sound quality make it perfect for events like this. Though it fits easily into the back of a small truck, it fills a park with high quality sound just as easily.”

The Cobra-2 line array comprised eight PWH subs, four Cobra Top boxes, two Dynacord L2400 amplifiers and Dynacord DSP244 processing. DBS also provided a Dynacord CMS1000 mixer, five EV QRX112 stage monitors and one EV Q66 amplifier.
