Peavey Electronics in Meridian, Miss., released the RBN 215 Sub and RBN 112 powered speaker enclosures at Winter NAMM 2014. These 1,500-watt speakers are designed for installations or portable applications, and driven by highly efficient power amps designed specifically for powered speaker enclosures.

The RBN 215 Sub powered subwoofer has a dual 15-inch enclosure that is said to maintain full output down to 36 Hz. Constructed of heavily braced 18mm birch plywood, the RBN sub is designed for years of rock-solid low end reliability. Unique to the RBN 112 speaker enclosure is Peavey’s ribbon driver. Used in studio environments for decades, Peavey has developed a way to apply this high-quality sound technology to powered speaker enclosures designed for live applications.

To match the high-frequency performance of Peavey’s ribbon driver, the RBN 112 is equipped with a 12-inch dual-voice coil neodymium Black Widow speaker, which features Peavey’s exclusive field replaceable basket technology.

The RBN 215 Sub and RBN 112 feature two XLR ¼-inch combination inputs, a 3.5mm input, and a mic/line level selection. Each input features digital infrasonic highpass filters, a 9-band graphic EQ and delay. Each output features a compressor/limiter and fourth order highpass/lowpass filters for crossover function and external subwoofer incorporation.

The RBN Series features internal temperature monitors plus level and clip indication to ensure optimal performance. The speaker enclosures contain internal presets built into the DSP, allowing users to quickly select the speaker’s application or orientation via the LCD on the rear of the enclosure. They also offer Auto-off sensing power down.
