Audio Ease Releases 360pan Suite

Audio Ease developed 360pan ($299) for attaching sounds to moving objects in 360-degree VR videos for YouTube. Originally intended for members of the Pro Tools community who want to do audio post-production for YouTube, this release is AAX Mac only; Audio Ease states that VST support will soon follow.

360pan lets users closely pan sounds onto objects in a video and output an ambisonics stream for upload, so it can be heard exactly the way it will sound on YouTube, interactively turning while viewing the result on YouTube. This can be accomplished with two Pro Tools AAX or VST plug-ins, with no syncing or background apps required.

To pan sounds accurately onto objects you automate multiple source “pucks” by dragging these around in the Pro Tools video window itself.

360monitor shows an interactively turning preview of the 360-degree video by grabbing video frames directly from the Pro Tools video window, so it is always sync with playback. The audio turns along with it by using the exact YouTube algorithm to decode ambisonics to binaural audio for headphones. The result is interactive immersive video and audio from within Pro Tools, with no TC syncing or background apps required.

Licenses can be activated to a machine (hard disk) or to an iLok key.
