Firehouse Cranks Up The Heat With Even More L-Acoustics Firepower

With its latest addition of 52 new LA12X-powered KS28 subs, among other systems, the company’s L-Acoustics inventory explodes to well over 550 enclosures

Following its massive purchase of 96 L-Acoustics K2 enclosures and a dozen triple-LA8-loaded LA-RAK touring racks last year, Firehouse Production has once again expanded its L-Acoustics inventory with a recent purchase of 52 new KS28 subs, 33 ultra-high-powered LA12X amplified controllers housed in 11 LA-RAK II racks, 28 compact Kiva II enclosures and an assortment of X Series coaxial systems.

Taking delivery of this latest order at the end of March, Firehouse now has over 550 L-Acoustics enclosures in its inventory—which is shared between its New York and Nevada locations—clearly demonstrating the touring company’s overwhelming satisfaction and deep commitment to the brand.

According to Firehouse’s Chris Russo, the new LA12X-powered KS28s have already done road duty with Radiohead, and are currently on tour with Hall & Oates and Tears For Fears. Plans are already in the works to use them on several other upcoming tours, as well as for a large awards show in the next few months.

“I first heard the new KS28 subs with Radiohead at Madison Square Garden last year and noticed increased transient response and impact over the SB28,” Russo recalls. “The response was much tighter and I really liked the extended smooth low end and greater output. The LA12X and latest version of LA Network Manager are a definite improvement as well. We like the system checker and I’m excited to hear what is yet to come with the ‘future-ready’ LA12X as far as features go.”

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Russo also notes that he appreciates L-Acoustics’ much smaller coaxial systems, such as the X8. “Those are great,” he shares. “We’ve been using them as frontfill and nearfield monitors. The 108P is also one of my favorite enclosures. It can be used for fills, monitors, small shows and anything you can think of.”
