The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored McDSP’s SA-2 Dialog Processor with a 2017 Emmy® Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development.
The Engineering Emmy is presented to an individual, company or organization for engineering developments that are so significant an improvement on existing methods or so innovative in nature that they materially affect the transmission, recording or reception of television.
The SA-2 Dialog Processor has been recognized for its role in improving the overall sound of recorded speech for some of television’s most popular shows. The SA-2 is based on hardware originally conceived by Academy Award winning re-recording mixer Mike Minkler and used on over 100 major motion pictures. Though the SA-2 is designed to improve the overall sound of recorded speech, it’s not just for dialog. It’s also equally useful for vocals, and is a great tool for adjusting the timbre of any track, a reliable de-esser, and a fine multi-frequency compressor.
