The new Meyer Sound Galileo GALAXY network platform will make its worldwide debut at InfoComm 2016 in Las Vegas. As the next generation of the Galileo processor line, GALAXY offers the most advanced processing power and networking standards available. The first three versions, GALAXY 816, GALAXY 816-AES3, and GALAXY 408, will ship September 2016.
Showing for the first time, the Galileo GALAXY network platform marks a quantum leap forward for the Galileo platform that was first launched in 2005. GALAXY is the first Meyer Sound loudspeaker processor to be fully networkable, with multiple units sharing 24-bit/96 kHz multi-channel audio via an AVB network. Maximum input count has been increased from six to eight for easier implementation of 7.1 systems, and a new generation of FPGA-based processing with 96kHz floating point resolution delivers increased dynamic range, a lower noise floor, and super-low latency of 0.6ms analog in to analog out.
Other features new to GALAXY include a delay matrix, easier integration with Crestron and other third-party controllers, a word clock input on the AES3 version, and improved equalization tools.
Visit the Meyer Sound demo room N112 to learn about the importance of accurately measuring and reporting loudspeaker SPL as a long-term, full-power, full-bandwidth signal. The benefits of clean reproduction through low-distortion, high-headroom, high-SPL systems will then be demonstrated through an immersive Meyer Sound cinema system. Entitled “Real World SPL,” the demo will present content on cinema loudspeaker models including the HMS-15, the most powerful in the company’s expanding line of surround loudspeakers. The state-of-the-art, 60-seat cinema installation includes a 30-foot screen and 4K projection and will preview Meyer Sound’s expanded focus on private home cinema installations. Demos will run on odd hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday to Friday.
The Meyer Sound booth C9925 will display an assortment of Meyer Sound products for the broader AV market, with the new MJF-208 compact stage monitor and MDM-5000 high-power distribution module making their North American debuts. Also shown are CAL column array loudspeakers, the full line of remotely powered loudspeakers with IntelligentDC technology, and the award-winning LEOPARD linear sound reinforcement system.
Meyer Sound representatives will also contribute four presentations to the InfoComm University education program. Buford Jones, live audio and education specialist, will lead two sessions on Wednesday, June 8: “Principles of Live Mixing” at 8 a.m. and “Mix It Up: Live Audio Workshop” at 12:30 p.m. Steve Bush, senior technical support specialist, will lead “Choosing the Right Loudspeaker for the Application” on Wednesday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m., and Steve Ellison, applications director for digital products, will lead “Optimizing the Spoken Word Using Active Acoustics” on Thursday, June 9 at 10:30 a.m.
