G-Technology, Gobbler Form Strategic Alliance

HGST, a Western Digital company, today unveils a strategic alliance between its G-Technology brand and Gobbler, a cloud collaboration platform for creative professionals. Beginning October 9, 2014, customers who purchase select G-Technology external storage solutions at participating retailers and distributors—including Sweetwater, Hal Leonard and Full Compass—will receive a complimentary one-year Gobbler subscription.

By pairing G-Technology drives with the Gobbler platform, audio professionals gain access to sophisticated cloud collaboration tools combined with the speed and flexibility of G-Technology’s reliable, high-performance external storage solutions.

“I’ve been using Gobbler on recent projects, including U2 and OneRepublic, and my mind has been blown at the speed and ease of file transfers,” says OneRepublic lead singer and producer Ryan Tedder. “I wouldn’t trust any other company to handle my collaboration. The partnership between Gobbler and G-Technology is going to be a game changer.”

“With our deep history in delivering premium storage solutions for the professional content creation market, we understand digital workflows, and there’s a clear need for simple local storage and cloud-based solutions to free up the content creator’s time,” says Mike Williams, vice president and general manager, HGST Innovative Solutions Group. “Through our relationships with music professionals like Steven Slate and Dave Pensado, it has become apparent that Gobbler is the go-to cloud[-based] solution for creative professionals. Together, we’re taking an evolutionary approach in delivering world-class storage and online collaboration tools specifically designed to meet the changing needs of the professional audio market.”

“Our mission is to make products that keep creatives focused on being creative,” says Gobbler CEO Chris Kantrowitz. “Our tools foster better communication and dead-simple collaboration. We are going to eliminate the need to ever look in the finder for your work. With the launch of Gobbler 2.0, that’s what we intend to do. With G-Technology, we are providing artists and media creators with simple, yet powerful collaboration tools, which eliminate the pain of working in digital workflows. Working with a storage solutions innovator like HGST has opened our eyes up to the greatest possibilities imaginable.”

In addition to its strategic alliance with HGST, Gobbler is backed by venture capital firms ff Venture Capital, Anthem Ventures and DFJ Frontier, and a formidable group of music-business investors including Sir Elton John, John Legend, Jared Leto, Lukasz Gottwald (Dr. Luke), and Yoshiki (Lead of X Japan).
