Los Angeles guitarist Tariqh Akoni has worked with Platinum-selling artists who make it a point to get rich and luscious guitar tone in their music; in turn, Tariqh relies on the powerful Eventide Eclipse™ processor to get his signature sound.

Tariqh has come to rely so much on the Eclipse that it has found a permanent home in the rack he uses when working with a long list of legendary artists, both in the studio and on the road. Akoni is currently taking a break from an extensive U.S. tour with singer Josh Groban. Tariqh has played with pop sensations the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera and Nick Lachey as well as jazz greats Tom Scott and George Duke, R&B legends Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle and Whitney Houston. After studying the guitar as a teenager and playing innumerable gigs, Tariqh attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston where, in addition to gigging in local clubs, he came under the tutelage of sax great Walter Beasley, and later met Gerald Albright who encouraged him to move to L.A.

“The Eclipse is in my rack because it is, sonically, the best unit out there,” Akoni unequivocally states. “It also allows me to replace lots of other equipment, so not only is it great-sounding, but cost effective as well. The sound coming out of that unit is so far superior to anything out there. People told me when I was setting up my rack for dual use, if you buy one thing, buy the Eclipse.” Tariqh continues to use it on the road and is currently relying on the Eclipse, as he records his own CD for release later in the year.

Ray Maxwell, Eventide’s vice president of sales and marketing explains the appeal of Eclipse’s sound: “The range and quality of sound the Eclipse offers is widely known among top guitar players,” Maxwell states. “The Eclipse begins with the H3000 favorites and extends well beyond, offering a plethora of amazing effects which take full advantage of advances in processing power, combined with comprehensive MIDI or foot pedal control, and extensive interconnect capability. The Eclipse is the obvious choice for live and the studio.”

The award-winning Eventide Eclipse is built on a dual-engine platform that is configurable in series, parallel, stereo or dual mono. It offers five times the processing power of Eventide’s legendary H3000 UltraHarmonizer in a package half the size. The Eclipse is the replacement for the H3000, and includes many of its most popular effects well known to engineers and producers.

Developed using input from both artists and engineers alike, the Eclipse features a robust, yet easy-to-use, interface that includes comprehensive search capability for rapid sorting by number, alphabet, category, effect type or application. Brandishing 390 presets drawn from 90 powerful effects algorithms, Eclipse is optimized for live performance and offers ultra-fast program change. The Eclipse chassis features quality construction throughout, heavy gauge all metal faceplate, solid positive-action controls, sharp and bright display visible from all angles under various lighting conditions.

In addition to being a road warrior, the Eclipse is well endowed for any studio session. For a full list of Eclipse features or more information about this and other Eventide products and news, visit Eventide on the web at www.eventide.com.
