Audio Ease in Utrecht, The Netherlands, announces the release of Version 7 of its Altiverb convolution reverb plug-in ($215; free for all Altiverb purchases made in 2010 or later). Altiverb 7 supports 64-bit processing on Intel Macs and runs in all major VST, Audio Units and MAS hosts, as well as in Pro Tools 8, 9, and 10 (TDM/RTAS).
Altiverb V. 7 offers a new picture browser that makes Altiverb’s Impulse response (sampled spaces) library easily accessible. The new browser features quicker loading, the ability to organize by size, and single-click favorites. Altiverb 7 also lines up the controls that are used most often in the front, while others are in drawers beneath.
Altiverb’s hundreds of virtual spaces are searchable with keywords; for example, type “brick studio UK” or Altiverb 7 adds an algorithmic reverb that closely fits the impulse response. The plug-in can optionally add brightness and chaotic modulation in ways that only synthetic reverb can while preserving the nature of convolution reverb.
Additionally, the Impulse response library can be kept up to date from within the plug-in. Audio Ease says that the TDM structure has been greatly simplified, and that Altiverb is now the only total recall convolution reverb without the use of snapshots. It adds drag and drop impulse response made from sweeps, slate claps or anything experimental from piano chords to overhead thunder.
Finally, Altiverb 7 is fully backward compatible; Audio Ease states that any project will load and sound the same as in Altiverb 6.
