Avatar Studios in New York City Reports on May 2011 Sessions

Avatar Studios in New York City announces that in May 2011, Joe Jackson was in Studio C recording his upcoming self-produced release with engineer Elliot Scheiner, assisted by Aki Nishimura.

Recent Grammy Award winner Esperanza Spalding was in Studio A recording her upcoming release co-produced with Q-Tip; engineer Joe Ferla was assisted by Fernando Lodeiro.

The band VHS or Beta was mixing in Studio G with engineer Martin Brumbach, assisted by Fernando Lodeiro.

Honor Society was recording in Studio B with producer Adam Blackstone, engineer Jon Smeltz, and assistant engineer Tim Marchiafava.

A jazz single to benefit the victims of Japan earthquake and tsunami was written and produced by guitarist Masuo Yoshiaki with a little help from jazz musicians including Tim Ries, Lew Soloff, Makoto Ozone from the New York jazz scene. The recording session was engineered by Katsu Naito, who was assisted by Bob Mallory.

The Manhattan Chamber Orchestra was in Studio A recording with producer Howard Cass, engineer David Merrill, and assistant engineer Fernando Lodeiro.

The Music of Mary Lou Williams with Carmen Lundy was recorded in Studio A with producer Peter O’Brien and engineer Anthony Ruotolo, assisted by Fernando Lodeiro.

Freddy Cole was recording in Studio B with producer Todd Barkan, engineer Katherine Miller, and assistant Bob Mallory.

Finally, Mike Stern was recording in Studio C with producer Jim Beard, engineer Phil Magnotti, and assistant Bob Mallory.
