Avatar Studios Reports on September, October Sessions

Avatar Studios in New York City was very busy in September and October 2011, hosting a variety of projects.

Jackie Evancho recorded with an orchestra in Studio A for her holiday release from Columbia, Heavenly Christmas CD. Rob Mounsey produced the session, with engineer Lawrence Manchester assisted by Bob Mallory and Tim Marchiafava.

The cast album for Follies, featuring the largest orchestra on Broadway with Bernadette Peters and Elaine Page, was recorded in Studio A with producer Tommy Krasker and engineer Bart Migal, assisted by Bob Mallory and Tim Marchiafava.

The Morehouse College Glee Club recorded in Studio A for Spike Lee’s upcoming film Red Hook Summer. The session was engineered by Jonathan Duckett and assisted by Charlie Kramsky.

The orchestral film score for So Undercover, starring Miley Cyrus and Jeremy Piven, was tracked in Studio A with composer/producer Stephen Trask, engineer Greg Hayes, and assistants Fernando Lodeiro and Mike Bauer. Additional recordings were done in Studio B; engineer Tim O’Hare worked on the 5.1 mix was done in Studio G.

Studios B and G hosted recording sessions for NBC’s upcoming show Smash. Music with Nick Jonas was recorded in Studio C with producer Jim Black, engineer Andy Zulla, and assistant engineer Bob Mallory.

Ingrid Michaelson recorded in Studio A with producer David Kahne and engineer Robert Smith assisted by Charlie Kramsky.

Billy Ocean recorded in Studios B and A (strings) with producer Barry Eastmond, engineer Anthony Ruotolo and assistant Charlie Kramsky.

Joe Jackson mixed in Studio C with engineer Elliot Scheiner assisted by Aki Nishimura.

Ryuichi Sakamoto recorded in Studio A with engineer Fernando Aptone assisted by Fernando Lodeiro.

Adam Lambert recorded in Studio A with producer Nile Rodgers, engineer Rich Hilton, and assistant Fernando Lodeiro.

Finally, Jackie Mason came in for a voice-over session for The Simpsons in Studio W with producer Brian Kaufman and engineer Charlie Kramsky.
