Avid recently announced the availability of Avid Pro Tools 11, a major upgrade of its industry-leading digital audio workstation. This latest version offers new, high-powered audio and video engines, 64-bit architecture, expanded metering, and direct HD video workflows.
Pro Tools 11 promises exponentially more processing power compared to previous versions—using the same hardware—to create bigger, more complex sessions. The new Avid Audio Engine enables customers to monitor record inputs at ultra-low latency without sacrificing plug-in performance. The Avid Video Engine supports playback and editing of a wide range of HD video formats right in the Pro Tools timeline, simplifying collaboration between mixers and video editors. And offline bounce to disk speeds up the output of mixes while ensuring ultimate accuracy.
Pricing is as follows: Pro Tools 11 software, full version, $699; upgrade from Pro Tools 10 to 11, $299; upgrade from Pro Tools 9 to 11, $399; cross grade from Pro Tools Express to Pro Tools 11, $499; upgrade from Pro Tools HD 10 to 11, $599; and upgrade from Pro Tools HD 9 to 11, $999.
Additionally, Metric Halo has announced that its audio processing plug-in suite Production Bundle Version 1.0.5 offers support for 64-bit AAX (Avid Audio eXtension) DSP and AAX Native plug-ins for Avid Pro Tools 11 at no additional upgrade charge to Metric Halo’s existing customers. Production Bundle is now available for Pro Tools 10 and 11 for Mac and Windows, as well as Audio Units. The Production Bundle includes ChannelStrip 3, Character, HaloVerb, Multiband Dynamics, Precision DeEsser, TransientControl, and Multiband Expander.
