Avid Releases Latest Version of Sibelius First Notation Software

Avid’s latest version of Sibelius First ($119.99; multi-seat five-packs are $299.99) offers an easy, intuitive way for aspiring composers, songwriters, arrangers and students to write and share music. Sibelius First combines the Sibelius Student and Sibelius First notation products into a single music composition tool; upgrade options for Current Sibelius First and Sibelius Student customers are $39.99.

The new Sibelius First incorporates features introduced by Avid’s Sibelius 7 and supports the latest operating systems.

To enter notes, choose from scanning, transcribing, or MIDI import. Sibelius First now includes full MusicXML interchange for transferring music into and out of other applications. It includes a premium sound library with high-quality sampled instruments, full 64-bit support for directly addressing more than 4GB of RAM, and smart tools with a “magnetic” layout and dynamic parts.

Sibelius First scores can be added to the score library on the Avid Scorch application, which is sold separately. Users can export compositions as videos and publish their work to social media Websites (YouTube, SoundCloud, Facebook) along with traditional print, email, or audio exports.
