Berkleemusic.com, the continuing education division of Berklee College of Music, has announced the winners of the winter term Ed Cherney Celebrity Online Scholarship Program. Producer/engineer Ed Cherney (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton) joins a growing list of celebrities who are helping to support Berkleemusic’s promising online students to achieve their goal of a life in music.

The scholarship program is designed to reward and assist outstanding students who demonstrate superior academic performance studying at Berkleemusic. The four winners of the Ed Cherney scholarship are William Martin of Quebec City, Canada; Adeline Brewer of Fort Worth, Texas; Carlos Rodriguez of Bogotá, Columbia; and Philip Pendleton of Columbus, Ohio.

“From rock to pop to rap, Ed has worked with a huge array of artists and it is truly an honor that my studies at Berkleemusic have been recognized by such a talented producer and engineer,” says Pendleton.

Ed Cherney explains his participation in the Berkleemusic.com scholarship program: “When I was starting out, there were always people who were more experienced and more successful who were willing to share their knowledge, and to share their hearts and souls. So, I take every opportunity to share what I know, and to give back, and to nurture careers and help people along. If this scholarship helps bring somebody along, I am gratified.”

Pendleton adds: “I am currently a designer working primarily on the Web, but ultimately, I would like to work as a composer for videogames and independent movies. I enrolled in the Master Theory, Harmony & Ear Training certificate program and I added Sound Design for Musicians and Film Scoring 101 as two of my electives. Studying online at Berkleemusic.com is the next best thing to actually living and studying in Boston at the school itself. Both the instructors and the course content have more than exceeded my expectations. I am confident the courses I am taking will give me an excellent foundation and enable me to take both my music and my musical career to the next level.”

Enrollment for the winter term is now open at Berkleemusic.com, which begins January 7, 2008. For more information, visit www.berkleemusic.com. For information about the scholarship program, visit www.berkleemusic.com/scholarship.
