Digigram Releases Whitepaper, “Digitalization of Radio Broadcasting: The Next Step”

Digigram SA, specializing in digital audio network solutions, presented the whitepaper "Digitalization of Radio Broadcasting: The Next Step" at IBC 2004 (September 9-14) to illustrate the functions of its eXaudi IP Audio streaming, processing and routing system. eXaudi allows for the integration of radio automation applications and audio transport over IP networks with a single scalable, manageable and integrated system. The eXaudi XIP882 has been introduced as the first products of the eXaudi range, which is only available to Digigram's OEM development partners. The whitepaper is available for download at www.digigram.com/exaudi

Philippe Delacroix, Digigram managing director says, “With eXaudi, Digigram introduces a network centric approach to integrate multiple applications, which currently are already digitalized but show only little operational interoperability. Some of these ‘digital islands’ are radio automation, studio transmitters links, logging, monitoring, content-sharing or program localization. This approach is particularly interesting for big broadcasters and their suppliers, which operate nationwide networks and therefore need to manage interactions between programs, localize programming and advertising, manage remote transmitters, etcetera.”Key features include encoding and decoding in various formats (MPEG 1 and 2 layer 2, MP3, MPEG4/AAC+ and others); an embedded matrix, which provides routing capabilities from any input (physical, file or IP stream) to any output (physical, file or IP stream); as well as control and management capabilities based on a SDK and a network API.The eXaudi system is based on open standards, which makes it easy to integrate into software applications and existing IP networking infrastructure : Ipv4 and Ipv6, RTP-RTCP-RTSP streaming protocols, Linux as operating system, MP3/MPEG4/AAC+ encoding/decoding or SNMP. output.
