‘The Hurt Locker’ Takes Sound Oscars

At Sunday’s 82nd annual Academy Awards ceremony, The Hurt Locker, in addition to winning in the Best Picture and Best Director categories (for Kathryn Bigelow’s direction), also swept the Academy’s sound categories by winning for Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. Paul N.J. Ottosson claimed the Academy Award for Sound Editing, and Ottosson and Ray Beckett won for Sound Mixing.

Additionally, composer Michael Giacchino won in the Music (Original Score) category for Up, while Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett were recognized in the Music (Original Song) category for their song “The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart)” in Crazy Heart.
