JoeCo Ships BlackBox BBR-DANTE Recorder

JoeCo Limited in Cambridge, UK, is now shipping the BBR-DANTE ($TBA) version of the BlackBox Recorder, which is designed to record/replay up to 32 channels of audio data from a Dante network. The BBR-DANTE multi-channel live audio recorder results from collaboration between JoeCo and Audinate, creators of the award-winning Dante digital media networking solution.

BBR-DANTE promises a computer-free, high-quality solution for multi-channel live audio capture. Able to record up to 32 channels of audio at 44.1 and 48 kHz directly to Broadcast WAV files on an external USB 2 (FAT32 formatted) drive, the BBR-DANTE also accommodates higher sample rate recording (88.2 and 96 kHz) at a reduced track count.

The recorder connects to any Dante-enabled network device from a range of console and converter manufacturers. Designed to support standard network components and switches, it can also record eight channels of analog (balanced line in) alongside 24 channels of Dante for capturing audience and ambience. Individual channels or pairs of channels can be monitored on an internal PFL bus providing both high-resolution metering and headphone output. A number of standard BlackBox Recorder safety features are also included, such as the Safe’n’Sound Record Recovery, which will recover files even if the power fails in the middle of a recording.

Audinate’s patented Dante promises a no-hassle, self configuring, true plug-and-play digital media networking that uses standard Internet protocols, and provides a migration path to upgrade to new emerging A/V standards such as the IEEE Audio Video Bridging (“AVB”).
