Composer John Williams (Star Wars, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park) received the 2004 Magic Baton, Young Musicians Foundation’s highest accolade, in recognition of his longstanding career as a composer and a conductor.

Inaugural APM/YMF Film & TV Music Business Fellow Chanda Dancy was recognized at the recent 50th Annual “Command Performance” Benefit Gala at the Beverly Hilton.

The APM/YMF Film & TV Music Business Fellowship is designed to expose young musicians to professional opportunities in the business of film and television music production, supervision and licensing. Dancy was selected from dozens of applicants to participate in 16 sessions dealing with various aspects of film and television scoring, including primers on music copyrights, licensing and clearances, as well as assisting APM on music searches for the studios and networks, and attending live scoring sessions and final audio mixes.

Associated Production Music, a joint venture of EMI Music Publishing and BMG Music Publishing provides the United States and Canada with music selection services and exclusive licensing rights to 20 different music libraries specifically for use in film, television, radio, recording and new media.

Young Musicians Foundation has been a national treasure and the Los Angeles “home team” for 50 years. Founded in 1955, the Young Musicians Foundation serves young musicians both locally and nationwide by providing performance opportunities, financial assistance, and music education programs to thousands of young musicians at all stages of development each year.
