Carlos Edgar Grier, a mastering engineer who began his career at Woodland Sound Studios in the early 1970s, died September 2 at his Nashville home from an apparent intracerebral
aneursym. He was 54 and is survived by his mother and sister.
Grier mastered and edited thousands of albums, from artists such as Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks, first at Woodland Sound Studios, and then over 16 years with Denny Purcell at his Georgetown Masters facility. For the last eight years, Grier followed his passion for horticulture, designing and installing irrigation systems for clients in and around Nashville.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, September 27 at 6 p.m. at Ocean Way Nashville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hemophilia & Bleeding Disorders Chapter of Alabama, 151 Market Place, Montgomery, Ala., 36117.
