Prism Sound Announces Limited Edition Orpheus Units

Audio converter manufacturer Prism Sound, based in Cambridge, UK, celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2012. The company states that it is planning to unveil two new recording products at the upcoming 133rd AES Convention in San Francisco (booth #722), and is also launching a limited edition series of Orpheus, the company’s award-winning FireWire multitrack audio interface for personal recording and sound production.

Prism Sound is offering only 25 of these limited edition units, and each one will numbered. Every Orpheus in the series features a black chassis and blue LED panel, and carries the signature of its creator, Prism Sound’s Technical Director Ian Dennis. The units also come complete with the normally optional Thunderbolt adapter.

Orpheus is designed for professional musicians, songwriters, engineers and producers as well as recording studios, post-production facilities and scoring stages. It handles a range of tasks including music and sound recording, multitracking, overdubbing, stem-based mastering, analog summing and critical listening applications.

Orpheus provides Prism Sound’s renowned performance, sound quality and state-of-the-art clock technology in a dedicated FireWire unit compatible with both Windows (XP, Vista, 32- and 64-bit; and Windows 7, 32- and 64-bit; ASIO and WDM) as well as Mac OS X 10.4.11 and later (Intel and Power PC). Once configured with a computer, Orpheus can also operate stand-alone using its AES S/PDIF or ADAT I/O.
