Pro Audio Manufacturer Outline Lands in North America

Pro audio manufacturer Outline, based in Brescia, Italy, recently opened Outline North America LLC in Farmingdale, N.Y. Outline North America LLC is overseen by Thomas Bensen, who has 30 years of experience in the pro audio industry. For several years Bensen helmed the U.S. branch of Italian amplifier manufacturer Powersoft.

Outline North America has conducted installations and live events at the Clear Channel Theater (P.C. Richard & Son Theater) in New York City, the Healing Place Church cathedral in Baton Rouge, La., Imperial Palace Casino in Biloxi, Miss., and the New Orleans Jazz Festival.

Outline North America is able to organize professional demos of its innovative loudspeaker systems, in particular the MANTAS, Butterfly and mini-COM.P.A.S.S. vertical line arrays, the last of which is self-powered and fitted with sensors and DSP for variable directivity (from 60 to 150 degrees). Outline’s product range also includes wedge monitors, point source systems and infra-sub units, which Outline says are “able to ensure cutting-edge acoustic performance in terms of linearity and top grade reproduction at very high SPL, in spite of their very small footprint.”

“I’ve known Tom Bensen for quite a long time and have been impressed by his career and the way he always been very successful in introducing high class brands on to the U.S. market,” says Giorgio Biffi, Outline’s international sales and marketing director. “Before we set up our relationship with Tom, I had individually met a number of people in the U.S. pro audio market who have a great and deep respect for him. His current successful venture with Powersoft was further proof of his skill and experience, so we are absolutely convinced that he is the perfect professional person to represent our quality products.”

“I’m proud to be part of the Outline family,” Bensen says. “This is a company that has vision. It has tremendous eye towards the future. They have a tremendous resource in their R&D and I see nothing but amazing things happening for Outline. The future of pro audio belongs to the companies that have really learned to embrace volumetric efficiency and low impact. I think that Outline is to loudspeakers what Powersoft is to amplifiers. Take the new Mantas vertical line array, for example. The thing weighs little more that 50 pounds with all of its hardware; it’s extremely high output, extremely lightweight, easy to deploy. We are trying to save on energy, we are trying to save on trucking, we are trying to save money. The response in America has been really one of great anticipation waiting for this product line to really develop and come in.”

Outline North America was at last week’s InfoComm 2009 show in Orlando, Fla., showing the MANTAS VLA and the LAB 21 (infra-sub), as well as the compact enclosures of the DVS (8-10) range in self-powered versions.
