Sanken Introduces CS-1e Short Shotgun Mic

Sanken Microphones, based in Tokyo, has introduced the CS-1e short shotgun microphone, a new generation mic based on the Sanken’s CS-1. The CS-1e features a longer reach and sharper directivity, and is suitable for a wide range of streamlined video productions. Very sharp directivity guarantees a targeted sound while eliminating unwanted background noise.

Sanken designed the CS-1e with a 7-inch length and lighter weight for mounting on newer, smaller HD camcorders and for easy boom pole operation. The CS-1e offers improved sensitivity via a redesigned capsule and circuitry, and it promises an extended low frequency response, as well as a frequency range of 50-20k Hz.

The new mic also has a standard XLR connection and 48-volt phantom power, which eliminates the need for batteries and promises ease of use.

The CS-1e’s rugged design and components offer optimum resistance to humidity and adverse temperature changes. A variety of windscreens and shock-mounting options provide versatility in the field.
