Silicon Valley Rocks! Benefit Concert in San Francisco on December 9

The second annual Silicon Valley Rocks! concert to benefit music education, a music showcase featuring performances from Silicon Valley’s tech community—from venture capitalists and entrepreneurs to bloggers and software developers—will take place Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in San Francisco.

The Silicon Valley Rocks organization has set a goal to raise $6,000 in ticket sales between now and December 9. All proceeds for Silicon Valley Rocks! will be donated to Music in Schools Today (MuST), a San Francisco Bay Area non-profit that seeks to rescue music programs from budget cuts.

MuST is the Bay Area’s answer to the crisis in music education. Despite extensive research indicating that music instruction supplies intellectual, emotional and physical components that are critical to children’s development, music and arts programs are often the first victims of budget cuts. MuST advocates for, supports and develops integrated, accessible, sustainable and measurable music-in-education programs that improve student achievement.

The Silicon Valley Rocks! showcase will feature Silicon Valley bands and original rockers who want to jam. The SVR selection committee, a mix of music and tech professionals, will choose the final line-up for a show that will entertain and amuse your entire social graph. The evening will close with drinks, DJs and dancing.

Silicon Valley Rocks! takes place Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 7 p.m. at:

Great American Music Hall
859 O’Farrell Street
between Polk & Larkin and Ellis & O’Farrell
San Francisco, CA 94109

Event sponsors include NetSuite, Midomi, Pyramind Audio, Burson-Marsteller, Joie de Vivre Hotels, Amgen, MusicianLink, Paragon, Vpype and San Francisco/San Jose FM radio station KFOG. The event will also include auction and contest items from Adobe, Virgin America, Microsoft, Ableton, TakeLessons.com and others.
