Vintage King Audio Adds the Inward Connections MPD500

Detroit-based Vintage King Audio, a leading dealer of high-end new and vintage recording equipment, has added the Inward Connections MPD500 ($1,050/MSRP, $895/street) discrete microphone preamp to its extensive roster of products. This is the second exclusive product launch for Vintage King Audio this month, the first being Wunder Audio’s CM7 FET, which was released Monday, August 3.

The 500 Series Mic Pre joins a critically acclaimed list of Inward Connections items available from Vintage King, including the VC500 compressor and Inward Connections’ Tree 500 console, which was nominated for a 2009 TEC Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement.

The Inward Connections MPD500 is a full-featured discrete microphone preamp with DI from the manufacturer of the famed VAC-Rac stereo tube limiter. Using the all-discrete SPA-690 op amp, this design is said to give a very high-bandwidth and musical tone without a trace of sterility. Features include balanced input and output transformers, output level rotary control and three highpass filter switches selectable at 70, 100 and 200 Hz. The MPD500 has a +48VDC phantom power switch, phase reverse switch, -20dB pad switch and 12-position rotary trim adjustable at 5dB per step within the 25- to 80dB range. Also featuring a hi-Z low level line input, ¼-inch phone jack for guitars, keyboards and low level instruments, the Inward Connections MPD500 fits standard 500 Series slot configurations both mechanically and electronically.

The Inward MPD500 is available exclusively through Vintage King Audio in the U.S. and select dealers abroad, listed at www.m1distribution.com.
