WavesLive Holds Successful Las Vegas Event On April 6

Engineer Jim Ebdon, known for his work with Maroon 5 and Aerosmith, discusses the use of Waves plug-ins during live performances at his presentation “Mixing Maroon 5” at the WavesLive event in Las Vegas on April 6, 2014.

On Sunday, April 6, 2014, Waves Audio held the latest installment of its WavesLive Master Class series at Cirque du Soleil’s Resident Shows Division in Las Vegas the day prior to the start of the 2014 NAB Show. The event featured a mixing workshop with leading live mixing engineers Ken “Pooch” Van Druten (Linkin Park, Alter Bridge), Peter Keppler (Katy Perry, David Byrne, St. Vincent) and Jim Ebdon (Maroon 5, Aerosmith). The engineers demonstrated how they use Waves plug-ins in their live mixing.

Other presenters included Brandon Andreasen (Cirque du Soleil/Michael Jackson ONE) and WavesLive product specialist Noam Raz.

The day opened with “Intro to WavesLive,” presented by Mick Olesh, Waves EVP of Sales & Marketing. Van Druten followed, presenting “Mixing Linkin Park/Alter Bridge.” Noam Raz gave the next session, an in-depth overview of WavesLive MultiRack. Andreasen then presented “Running Plugins @ Michael Jackson ONE,” followed by Keppler’s presentation “Mixing Katy Perry.” After lunch, Ebdon held “Mixing Maroon 5,” followed by Van Druten, Ebdon and Keppler joining forces for the panel “Mixing with Loudness In Mind.” A hands-on session for attendees wrapped the day’s events.

Waves EVP of Sales & Marketing Mick Olesh says: “As part of our ongoing series of WavesLive events to help educate sound professionals on the use of plugins for live performance, we were fortunate enough to be able to use Cirque du Soleil’s Resident Shows Division facility for this successful event. For attendees, this was a great opportunity to experience the world of live sound with plugins and receive tips and tricks directly from mixing legends Pooch, Jim and Peter.”
