Women’s Music Summit Adds New Music Industry Panelists

The Women’s Music Summit, a music immersion gathering that focuses on female musicians, recently added music industry veterans to participate in panel discussions: Tobi Parks of Sony Music Entertainment; Kate Pokorny of Indaba Music; Carise Yatter of Hired Gun Media; Jessica Sternick of Red Entertainment; and Laura Taylor, Senior VP of Operations for Guitar Center. Summit producer Laura B. Whitmore will facilitate panels focusing on publishing, distribution, management, alternative careers in music, public relations and promotion.

The Women’s Music Summit will take place August 28–31, 2012 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York, located near Woodstock, NY. Players of all instruments and levels are invited to learn, practice, perform, and connect. Summit events include instructional workshops, master classes, roundtable panels, group dinners, jam sessions, and more. Artist counselors include Meshell Ndegeocello, Bibi McGill (Pink, Beyoncé), Kaki King, Malina Moye, Marnie Stern, and Melissa Auf der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins).

The Women’s Music Summit is part of the Music Masters Camps, a series of weeklong instructional workshops at Full Moon Resort. This year’s programs also include Dweezil Zappa, Ricky Skaggs, Richard Thompson, Medeski Martin & Wood, Todd Rundgren, Paul Gilbert, Umphrey’s McGee, and more.

The Women’s Music Summit’s discounted pricing offer has been extended to August 1, 2012. Single-day pricing now starts at $300 per day for tent camping, and $385 per day for a double occupancy room in Full Moon Resort’s inn. Pricing includes meals and all Summit workshops.

Musicians who register for both Wednesday and Thursday will receive a pre-Summit free upgrade. This includes complimentary accommodations/camping for Tuesday night as well, including dinner, an hour of open bar, breakfast Wednesday morning, and more.

The Women’s Music Summit integrates academic, instructional and social elements, as well as personal interface with the artists, at forums, panels, classes, and jam sessions, as well as at meal times and throughout evening activities.
