2002 TEC Awards Winners Announced

The producers, engineers and other audio professionals behind DaveMatthews’ “The Space Between” and the production team for Diana Krall’sThe Look of Love were among the many winners at the 18th AnnualTechnical Excellence & Creativity Awards, held Monday, October 7,at the Wilshire Grand Hotel. The ceremony was hosted by actor/comedianHarry Shearer.

In addition to 24 awards for Technical and Creative Achievement, thecapacity crowd witnessed the induction of legendary Beatles engineerGeoff Emerick into the TEC Awards Hall of Fame, and the presentation ofthe prestigious Les Paul Award to Robbie Robertson. Al Schmitt (whoreceived a TEC Award himself for his engineering on The Look ofLove) presented the Hall of Fame Award to Emerick, along withengineer/producers George Massenburg and Elliott Scheiner. Renownedproducer Daniel Lanois presented the Les Paul Award, sponsored byGibson Musical Instruments, to Robbie Robertson.
