The Association of Music Producers (AMP) announced a call for entries for the 2003 Mixer of the Year Award, which will be presented in Los Angeles in March at a special evening event to be hosted by AMP. This award celebrates the talents of a post-production audio mixer for television commercials and recognizes their important role in the success of a TV commercial. The deadline for entries is January 31, 2004.

Submission guidelines include a body of work by a single mixer that shows high audio production value, mixing skills and sensitivity to the relationship of voice-over, dialog, music and/or sound design. (Spots comprising all music or all sound design will not be accepted. Entries that have no voice-over will disqualify the entire entry.) Each entry submitted should comprise three TV commercials dubbed in DVD format. Three spots from the same campaign will not be considered. An affidavit must be signed by the production company that the mixes are the on-air versions of these spots, and titles and ISCI codes must be provided. The commercials must have aired in the U.S. for the first time between January 1, 2003, and December 31, 2003.

There is a fee of $150 per entry. Multiple entries by the same mixer are permitted, but the spots may not be duplicates. There are no entry forms, but the DVDs, affidavits and fees must arrive at AMP, c/o Trivers/Myers Music, 2816 The Strand, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
