Angel Mountain Studios (Bethlehem, Pa.) recently purchased a Solid State Logic XL 9000 K Series SuperAnalogue Console for its newly designed Studio A.
“When we sat down to discuss the expansion of the facility,” said Gary Sloyer, owner of Angel Mountain, “we had to find a formula that took into consideration the two areas of our business. We designed the facility from the ground up to be 5.1 in all of the control rooms, and that led us to purchasing the XL. We are located between New York City and Philadelphia and we went the extra mile in our design and equipment purchases to attract clients from both markets.
“The XL was installed primarily to address music tracking and mixing,” Sloyer continued. “The research that we did told us that anyone coming to this facility would want an SSL, and with the fast computer, incredible sound and built-in 5.1 mixing, the XL was really the only choice. With the advent of SACD and DVD-A, we wanted to have a console that can meet the demands of those release formats today and into the future. The XL puts us in a position of strength in our market, so we see the XL from a business standpoint as a great selling point for potential clients. The XL puts us on the cutting edge of the new technical advances in the industry.”
