Aphex’s Model 148 active digital audio splitter was designedfor applications that require feeding the same digital audio signal tomultiple inputs. Through the use of 15-pin D-sub connectors, thehalf-rack unit can split eight channels (four pairs) of digital audiointo 32 channels (16 pairs). The D-subs follow the standards used onthe company’s Model 1788 remote-controlled mic preamplifier.
The 148 incorporates 20 dB of saturated gain to square up the inputsignal. It can also be used as a booster amplifier to restore a signalto full-drive at the end of longer runs. The 148 can be internallyconfigured for either 110-ohm balanced or 75-ohm unbalancedoperation.
Other features include one DB15 input connector (four AES3 stereoinputs), four DB15 output connectors (four AES3 stereo outputs oneach), sample rates up to 192 kHz, all I/O are transformer-isolated,low jitter and internal power supply.
The Model 148 can be mounted in a rack by itself or in pairs withthe Aphex Model 44-008SA rack kit.
