ATI PII, JBL Vertec Installed in Grand Ole Opry

Gaylord Entertainment Center has commissioned ATI to custom-manufacture a 64-input Paragon II Production

Gaylord Entertainment Center has commissioned ATI tocustom-manufacture a 64-input Paragon II Production live sound mixingconsole to replace the Grand Ole Opry’s ATI P40 desk.

The venue’s new JBL Vertec sound system (pictured) was usedfor the 37th Annual CMA (Country Music Association) Awards, which airedlive on November 5.

Installed during the week of September 22 without interrupting theOpry’s busy rehearsal, show and television broadcast schedule, theproject involved coordination among many players. Noted engineer GeorgeMassenburg was engaged by the venue as audio quality consultant andveteran studio musician and producer Steve Gibson was involved as musicquality consultant. Sam Berkow participated as acoustical consultant.Jon Mire, technical services manager for the Opry House, coordinatedsystem evaluation and changeover activities. Dan Heins of ClairBrothers Systems, the installing dealer, led the engineering design andinstallation team.

The new speaker system for the Opry comprises various JBL productsincluding Vertec line array speakers and subwoofers and additionalloudspeakers from JBL’s AE Series, Control Series and Marquis Seriesproduct lines. All loudspeakers are powered by Crown MacroTech Seriesamplifiers.
