July 2005—Behringer’s (www.behringer.com) C-1 large-diaphragm condenser microphone ($49,99 MSRP) is based on a 16mm large-diaphragm capsule and is ideal for studio and live miking applications, including acoustic instruments, vocals and drums. Its cardioid pickup pattern facilitates sound source separation with minimal off-axis sound coloration. The C-1 uses low-noise transformerless FET circuitry and features a nearly flat frequency response from 40 to 20k Hz with 1% THD @ 1 kHz at 136 dB. The C-1 is constructed of a rugged die-cast body and comes with a swivel stand mount and carrying case.

July 2005—Behringer’s ULTRAVOICE XM8500 ($24.99) is a dynamic mic with a cardioid pickup pattern. The XM8500 features internal shock-mounting to minimize handling noise, a spherical wind/pop noise filter and a tough, steel-mesh windscreen. A smooth mid-frequency presence rise aids projection of vocals, while polar response is intended to reduce background noise and feedback. Frequency response is 50 to 15k Hz and impedance is 150 ohms; sensitivity is -70 dB.

gold-sputtered dual-diaphragm capsule, with selectable
cardioid/omni/figure-8 patterns, low-cut filter and -10dB pad. The mic
boasts low-noise transformerless FET circuitry, a 20-20k Hz response
and 149dB max SPL. The $189.99 retail includes case, suspension mount
and windscreen.
