The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences recently upgradedtheir Pro Tools labs, studios and mobile rigs to Pro Tools HD. Inaddition, the school has created eight mobile Pro Tools LE rigs usingthe new Digi 002 Rack FireWire Interface.
“Having 26 Pro Tools rigs on campus enables us to give ourstudents maximum hands-on time with this world class digital audioworkstation”, says conservatory administrator Kirt Hamm(pictured; photo credit Chris Bailey). The Conservatory teaches theDigidesign 101, 201 and 210M programs and certifies all students as ProTools Operators. In addition to offering students Digidesign’sOperator Certification, the Conservatory offers its own certificategiving students the extra skills necessary to find employment in theaudio marketplace.
The school’s Pro Tools floater rigs are used by students forclasses in post production, commercial production and various trackingsessions in the Conservatory’s eight professional-level recordingstudios. Students also track live bands to HD as they perform in the150,000 cubic-foot live sound classroom at the Conservatory’sGilbert location.
